Vicia caroliniana


This was a new flower for me to learn this weekend. It was growing on drier hillsides at the Red River Gorge, KY.

Wow, that thing flowers early! Scott found this plant a year or two ago in St. Joseph County, Indiana at the summit of a high, gravelly clay bluff overlooking the St. Joseph River. It's rare around here. Nice find, Ben!

I was thinking of going back to that site in St. Joseph County this past weekend, but I didn't get out there.
