This neat little plant in the Fumariaceae is abundant in the riparian forests that follow the Yellow River through Starke County, Indiana. Elsewhere, it shows up only occasionally, often in degraded woods.
Amber, its fruiting capsules are very similar to those of Small-Flowered Corydalis, which see - drooping, narrow, and somewhat moniliform. Good question!
I saw a new wildflower recently (April 19, 2020) in a small woodlot at the south end of Plymouth, IN cemetery. Hmmm... is that a yellow-phase Dutchman's Breeches???! Nope, C. flavula. Googling led me to this page. RIP Keith! You are missed.
