Erigenia bulbosa, Harbinger of Spring!

Today in a mesic forest dominated by beech and sugar maple, Harbinger-of-Spring was flowering here and there. None of the plants I saw had risked unfurling their leaves yet.
Photographed at Potato Creek State Park in St. Joseph County, Indiana, on March 6, 2012.

You beat me by one day! I saw a bunch of Erigenia bulbosa on the Lower Big Tree Trail at Bendix Woods this afternoon. Spring has sprung!

I've never seen this species. Is there a place in Porter or LaPorte Counties where I might find it in bloom this coming weekend?

Hi Pete, this plant seems to increase as one moves east away from the dunes. It is especially at home in beech-maple woods, so the Heron Rookery, CR 700E, Potato Creek, and Bendix Woods are all good places to find it.
