Steele Prairie State Preserve Wildflowers

Over the 2014 and 2015 growing seasons, Mary Damm and I conducted a plant inventory at T.H. Steele Prairie State Preserve for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.  In addition to the few photos below, I put together a short slideshow that can be viewed here.

Allium stellatum

Liatris pycnostachya

Asclepias sullivantii

Sorghastrum nutans

You could use the free app iNaturalist to produce not only a flora but a field guide. I'm working with some master naturalists to do just that for a nearby park and conservation area.

Thanks for the idea. I haven't used iNaturalist before.
