Allegheny SpurgeI went backpacking in Tennessee this past weekend and had a great time seeing wildflowers blooming. I learned a new plant, so I thought that I would share it. Bruce helped me identify the it by photograph. It took me a little bit to associate the leaves with the flowers, since they weren't always together.

That is a fun plant. Scott and I saw it a few years ago at Mammoth Cave, Kentucky. It is our only member of the Buxaceae (the Boxwood Family) in eastern North America. Hard to image it being related to those tacky little shrubs.
